HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR TATTOO

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE "SECOND SKIN" BANDAGE?

Aftercare

The second-skin bandage is an adhesive dressing that creates a protective barrier for the wound, while allowing it to breathe. It's normal to see a collection of fluid build up inside (a tattoo releases blood, lymph and ink in the first few hours).

However, if this liquid leaks out of the bandage, then it should be removed, just as if water seeps in after a shower. If any redness, itching, tingling or other discomfort occurs around the bandage, it is strongly recommended that it be removed.

To remove the bandage, it's easiest to peel it off carefully in the shower and wash the tattoo underneath, making sure there's no residual glue.

Just like a wound, the tattoo will be covered with a bandage at the end of the session. Either a "second skin" type dressing that can be kept on for a maximum of 3 to 4 days, or an absorbent pad held in place by surgical tape that can be kept on for 2 to 24 hours.

BANDAGE REMOVAL

* Loose-fitting clothing can also be worn , but beware that synthetic materials can cause friction if they come into contact with the tattoo. Prioritize cotton.

HEALING

* Do not scratch or remove scabs, as they will fall off on their own. Removing them may impair healing and damage the tattoo.

Avoid during healing process:

TOUCH-UPS

* If touch-ups are required, it's best to wait at least a month and a half (this can vary depending on the healing process - every skin is different).

HOW TO ENSURE YOUR TATTOO AGES WELL?

UV sessions

Jacuzzi

Bathing (at home, in the sea, pool or lake...)

Sun exposure

Sauna

Gym and/or excessive sweating (first week)

When you take care of your skin, you take care of your ink! Moisturize, stay hydrated and protect yourself from UV rays.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY TATTOO IS INFECTED?

The tattoo is painful, hot, red, swollen, with pus... If these symptoms persist after 72 hours, the infection must be treated as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me or refer to a health professional.

* Whatever the type of bandage, you must wash your tattoo thoroughly with warm water and fragrance-free soap. You can finish off with cold water to tighten the skin's pores and calm the hot effect.

MOISTURIZATION

* Once the tattoo is clean and dry (be sure to dry it with a clean cloth or paper towel, patting gently), we recommend moisturizing it withfragrance-free lotion 2-3 times a day, for the next 3 weeks after bandage removal.

* If you're in a healthy environment, then let the skin air dry.

* It's important to wash your hands thoroughly before moisturizing your tattoo (note that tube or pump dispensers are more hygienic than jars).
